Information on the meeting held at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents.

On September 22, 2023 Shalva Datiashvili, Charge d’Affairs of Georgia paid a courtesy call to Mr. Nigel Wong, President of  the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents. The Mr. Hon. Secretary General, Phua Tai Neng, Mr. Chong yu Ken, Vice president Outbound, Mr. Roki Kho, Honorary Treasurer and Ms. Maziah Mihat, General manager were attending the meeting.

During the meeting, the detailed information about opportunities in tourism sector in Georgia, as well as Georgia’s winemaking, ski and sea resorts, liberal visa regime, international rankings and rapidly growing number of tourist was provided.

Parties also highlighted that there is huge untapped potential for cooperation in tourism sector between Georgia and Malaysia. The importance of establishing closer ties between the tour operators of both countries was as well underlined.

Shalva Datiashvili expressed the hope that this meeting will prove to be the first important step in promoting Georgia as a new travel destination and encouraging closer people-to-people exchanges.
